seKNd.life - circular thinking

König + Neurath launches seKNd.life

Manufacturer-independent return and refurbishment of office furniture in project business

New business division closes the loop: Re.use, Re.furbish, Re.cycle – transparent, economical and measurable.

Karben, September 2025 – König + Neurath is expanding its service portfolio with seKNd.life, the new business division for manufacturer-independent take-back in projects, professional refurbishment and reuse of office furniture, as well as resource-saving recycling. The service includes inventory, evaluation, refurbishment and re-implementation of furniture – across Europe and in accordance with high quality and sustainability standards. ‘With seKNd.life, we are consistently implementing the circular economy concept: we take back used office furniture, refurbish it to the highest standards and integrate new and used furniture into a functional, sustainable overall solution. In this way, we create and demonstrate real, verifiable eco-intelligence from a single source,’ says Steffen Schwerd, CEO of König + Neurath.

seKNd.life for circular value chain

Many companies face complex processes, great uncertainty and high costs when modernising their working environments. seKNd.life takes care of the entire process and systematically combines the R strategies Re.use, Re.furbish and Re.cycle into a continuous recycling cycle. The result: simple, clear and effective – with demonstrable benefits for companies' sustainability reporting. As a manufacturer, König + Neurath brings in-depth material and design expertise to the cycle, complemented by an outlet and a strong partner network. This turns individual measures into a continuous, guided cycle process. "We have the series production expertise – exactly what high-quality refurbishment processes need. Our team ensures that refurbished office furniture is technically, ergonomically and visually impressive. That's the difference between pure disposal or the anonymous second-hand market," explains Holger Steinbrecht, who is responsible for the new seKNd.life business division. The former head of seating production is thus taking on a key initiative in König + Neurath's sustainability strategy. CEO Steffen Schwerd sees this step as strategic: ‘With seKNd.life, we are sending a clear message: for us, sustainability is not an option, but an obligation. The circular economy strengthens our competitiveness and is an expression of our responsibility towards the environment and society. As a manufacturer, we are pooling our expertise and offering our customers the opportunity to systematically and sustainably return furniture to the cycle of use.’
